Physical Difficulties Support Service

About the Service

Physical Difficulties Support Service (PDSS) is one of the Birmingham City Council’s SEND services. It is a small team consisting of qualified teachers with a specialism and expertise in supporting children and young people with physical difficulties in mainstream nurseries and schools.

How to access the service

In order to access the Physical Difficulties Support Service (PDSS), a referral needs to be made by the school or education setting.

  • The need for a referral can be discussed with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENCo)
  • The SENCo at the school or education setting needs to refer to the referral criteria before requesting PDSS support
  • In order to request support, a school or education setting needs to complete the referral below
  • The school or education setting will request parental consent using the appropriate consent form below
